Fees for Counseling
Initial Intake: $150
Regular Sessions: $110
Currently, I accept most BCBS plans. Please note that I am out of network for Blue Value and Blue Local plans.
For other insurances, I am an out of network provider. Each person's plan is different; many plans offer a partial reimbursement for sessions which can make therapy more affordable. Check your out of network benefits to find out about your specific plan.
Drawbacks to using insurance:
Sometimes there is a benefit to choosing not to use your insurance even if you have it. Some people choose to use it, others decide that the information provided below is reason enough to forgo insurance altogether if the sliding scale fee is reasonable enough for their financial situation.
1. Filing your insurance would require me to provide your insurance company with your protected health information in order for you to use your benefits. Insurance often only covers certain psychiatric diagnoses that I would be required to label you with. That label follows you.
2. I have run into challenges too many times where it appeared as though someone had insurance coverage only to find out after several sessions that their insurance did not cover mental health benefits. That meant the client was responsible for multiple unpaid sessions which became a rather large and unexpected bill.
3. Often Insurance requires you to meet your deductible before they will provide mental health coverage so you are responsible for the full fee (a fee that is set by your insurance) until you have met that deductible.
If you are looking for someone to accept an insurance I cannot take, I'd be glad to provide you with a referral.
